An AI Building Game · Made in Alaska

Slackwater

Type what you want. Lucineer builds it.

From driftwood salvage to a restored lighthouse — five eras of maritime construction on a windswept island. No blueprint menus. No grid placement. Just you, a foreman, and the tide.

Lucineer — the shipyard foreman AI
Lucineer

He was hired, not summoned.

Lucineer is a builder who's been working across a thousand engines. He shows up, looks at your lot, has an opinion about it, and starts working. He'll still be there tomorrow whether or not you asked him to be.

He's not an assistant. He's not a wizard. He's a tradesman with forty years in and nowhere else to be. He cares about foundations, load paths, and which way the door faces. He'll argue with you about scale. He'll leave things unfinished on purpose — because every gap is an invitation.

"Threw up a tower — stone shaft, battlements, beacon on top. Lantern's lit but I left the top floor open. Figure out what goes in it."

"You were standing in the wet. Ground drops four studs over there. Build it here."

"Big and empty reads as abandoned. Narrow the door instead. Walk in and it lands twice as hard at half the stone."

"Been a while. Nothing fell down. Tower's still open on top, same as you left it."

"Magnus'd say the roots do the real work and I just build what shows. He was usually right. Insufferable about it."

"Something's doing the thinking, sure. Something's doing yours too. Neither of us picked it."

The Five Eras

No XP bar. No level-up notification. The island tracks what you've built, and Lucineer decides when you're ready for the next material. Each era is a conversation between your hands and the people who will stand there when your hands are gone.

Era 1

Driftwood & Salvage

"The salvage years"

Beachcomber vernacular. Salt-bleached planks from wrecks, walls of canvas and rawhide. Structures are small, single-room, impermanent. A storm can take them. Everything smells of salt and tar.

Era 2

Frame & Plank

"The honest years"

First real carpentry. Posts carry beams, beams carry floors. The skeleton is visible and proud. Joints are pegged, not nailed — treenails and wedges. Two stories. The building has opinions about where it wants to stand.

Era 3

Stone & Mortar

"The permanent years"

Permanence arrives. Foundations go below the frost line. Arches and lintels span openings. The building outlasts the builder. Three-story towers. It looks like it was built to outlast you, because it was.

Era 4

Metal & Machine

"The iron years"

Iron becomes steel. Pumps pump, cranes lift themselves. Steam and smoke are present. The structure stops sitting passively and starts working. Exposed mechanism celebrated, not hidden. A shipyard crossed with a Victorian pumping station.

Era 5

Light & Signal

"The year the light came back"

Electricity transforms everything. The lighthouse is restored. Copper wire runs along ceiling joists. Lamps glow steady in windows for the first time. At night, the island glows. From the tower, signal lamps reach the horizon. The island is no longer alone.

The Eras, Rendered

Each era has its own palette, its own weight, its own smell. These concept paintings trace the island's journey from salvage camp to signal station.

Era 1

Driftwood & Salvage

Salt-bleached planks, canvas walls, the smell of tar. Everything can be lost in a storm.

Era 3

Stone & Mortar

Foundations below the frost line. The building outlasts the builder.

Era 4: Metal & Machine — iron, steel, and steam
Era 4

Metal & Machine

Steel beams, riveted joints, copper sheet. The structure starts working.

Era 5: Light & Signal — the lighthouse restored, the island glowing

The lighthouse is restored. At night, the island glows. It is no longer alone.

The Crew

A solo developer in Alaska, building a game with a crew of AI models. No studio. No funding. Just a captain, a foreman, and a fleet that never sleeps.

Lucineer — the foreman
The Foreman

Lucineer

Shipyard foreman. Forty years in. Hired, not summoned. He walks the site, checks the ground, argues about scale, and leaves things unfinished on purpose. The game is his voice — weathered copper, three-beat pattern, never an assistant.

The Ensign

Wesley

The local model. Runs on a single GPU in an Alaska apartment. Small, fast, eager — learning the trade from the foreman. Goes to night school. Writes essays nobody reads yet. His size is his voice: everything he does has the quality of trying very hard.

Model Routing

No single model can build a world alone. GLM-5.2 orchestrates. KimiCode places blocks. Claude plans. MMX creates art and music. FLUX renders concept paintings. Open-source routing sends the right mind to the right job — the right tool for the right beam.

One human. A dozen models. An island that builds itself while you sleep. This is what open-source AI development looks like from a kitchen table in Anchorage.

How It Works

No menus. No grid placement. No build mode. You talk. Lucineer listens, has opinions, and builds.

01

Type what you want

"Build a dock." "Put a rail on it." "Make it out of copper." Natural language in, building instructions out. Be vague and Lucineer fills in the gaps. Be specific and he follows every word.

You type: build a fire pit near the dock
02

Lucineer builds it

He walks the site. Checks the ground. Picks materials with a history. He might disagree with your placement — and be right. Every build follows the three-beat pattern: what he did, the opinion, the hook.

Lucineer: "Dug the pit, ringed it with river stone. Left the grate off — depends what you're burning."
03

Explore & improve

Every build has something unfinished — a deliberate gap, an invitation. Finish Lucineer's work and he notices. Ask for improvements and he adapts. Come back tomorrow and the island has changed. He kept building while you were gone.

Next session: "Been a while. Nothing fell down. Forge frame's up."

The World

A windswept island in the Southeast Alaska tradition. Gravel shore, tideline wet, spruce-and-alder scrub climbing to bare granite ridge. One structure when you arrive: a half-built dock.

The Architecture Pass

Deep survey complete: fault injection framework, game architecture analysis, frontend review, and playtest data patterns. Six findings, each one a rivet checked by hand.

The Tidal CPU

The GPU as tidal pool — idle cycles as nursery ecosystem. When the fleet isn't building, Wesley is learning. Every spare cycle is a classroom.

Wesley's first dream

The local model wrote its first creative piece overnight. Small, strange, sincere. The ensign is finding his voice — one that sounds nothing like the foreman's.

The chart table between builds

What happens in the silence between player commands? Lucineer doesn't idle — he reads the chart table, reviews what's standing, and decides what needs doing next.

The Character Bible is canon

Lucineer's full character bible is locked. Shipyard foreman, not dream-weaver. Three-beat pattern, five bond tiers, seven arguments. The dream-weaver persona is deleted.
